The
USPS has issued new regulations regarding
Folded Self Mailers
(FSM - bifolds, trifolds etc)
that require the use of more tabs but you
can relax.
The changes aren't mandatory until
January 5 of 2013
Previously only BOOKLETS were affected.
This change will
affect virtually all mailed letter size pieces that are not in an
envelope.
1.
The use of perforated tabs of any kind is being
eliminated.
2. The minimum sized tab will be 1" - this will effectively
eliminate
the use of 3/4" and 15/16" tabs currently in use.
3. Additional tabs may be necessary - see below
As a mailer
you need to plan future purchases
and take into consideration how this change will affect
the use of
clear tabs. Without a perf, this type of tab makes it very
difficult for the recipient to open the
mailing piece without
tearing it. Translucent tabs are the obvious next best choice.
